✨ What I Learned From Taking a Break
Posted by Ajibola 💛 | Teen Life | Real Talk | Growth
Hey besties 👋🏾
Soo… it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I haven’t posted in some time, and I just wanted to talk about that. Honestly, I didn’t plan to take a break — it just kind of happened. Life got busy, my motivation faded, and I started feeling a little disconnected from the internet version of myself. I felt like I didn’t have anything perfect to say. So, I said nothing.
But you know what? That’s okay.
In the time I was away, I learned a lot about myself. Not in some dramatic, life-changing way — just quiet lessons. Subtle reminders. And I want to share them with you today, in case you’ve ever felt the same. Whether you’re someone who creates, studies hard, overthinks, or just puts a lot of pressure on yourself… this one’s for you. 💛
🌱 What My Break Taught Me (And Maybe It’ll Help You Too)
🧠 1. Rest is still doing something.
We’re so used to thinking that being productive means doing things constantly — working, creating, studying, showing up, keeping up. But during my break, I realized how powerful rest is.
Like real rest.
No guilt, no catching up, no “I should be doing more.” Just breathing, sleeping, being.
You don’t have to earn rest. You’re a human being, not a machine. Taking time for yourself doesn’t make you lazy — it makes you wise.
🌾 2. Growth doesn’t always look exciting.
Sometimes growth looks like laying in bed and thinking. Sometimes it looks like deleting apps. Or saying “no” more. Or praying quietly.
While I wasn’t posting or “doing” anything huge, I was still learning. Reflecting. Becoming more me. It’s weird how much can happen in silence. Not all growth has to be loud or aesthetic. Sometimes it’s slow, invisible, and still so real.
💬 3. You don’t owe the world a performance.
This was a big one for me. As someone who loves sharing, creating, and helping others — I sometimes feel like I always need to show up “perfect.” Like I need to have everything figured out before I post or speak.
But the truth is: we don’t have to perform for people.
You’re allowed to have off days. You’re allowed to go quiet. You’re allowed to just be.
You are still worthy when you’re not producing.
🤍 4. You can restart whenever you want
This one hit me the most. We always feel like once we stop something, we can’t come back — like we missed our chance. But you didn’t.
You can restart your goals. Your dreams. Your prayers. Your routines.
Allah gives us new chances every day.
And honestly? Coming back after a break doesn’t make you weak — it makes you brave. You showed up again. That’s beautiful.
🌸 Outro:
So if you’re reading this and you’ve also been feeling a little off, disconnected, or “behind” — just know this:
It’s okay to rest.
It’s okay to take a break.
It’s okay to come back slowly.
You’re not behind. You’re human. And you’re doing your best.
I’m grateful for the break I took — it helped me come back with more peace and intention. And I’m so happy to be writing again. I missed this. I missed you. 💌
If you’ve ever felt like disappearing for a while, I hope this post makes you feel less alone. And if you’re on your own little “comeback journey” — welcome. I see you. I support you.
InshaAllah, more content is coming. But this time, I’m doing it softly. Gently. From the heart.
Love always,
— Ajibola 🌙✨
